UZH's Physik-Institut runs a general physics PhD program; quantum information theory research there is anchored by Lidia del Rio's group, which takes an operational, agent-based approach to quantum foundations, thermodynamics, and cryptography. Most of Zurich's quantum computing hardware research is concentrated at the separate ETH Zurich.
